Action Domains

SCCMS, South Carolina's Coalition for Mathematics and Science brings together advocates, like you, who seek constancy and quality in the state's approach to science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Though our name is new, our history and our impact on instructional improvement date back to the South Carolina's Statewide Systemic Initiative (SSI) and Leadership and Assistance for Science Education Reform (LASER) partnership forged in 1998.

SCCMS partners have a passion for improving science, technology, engineering and mathematics education for all children in South Carolina. We are planning a focused set of actions designed to bring about significant and robust changes in the way mathematics and science are taught and learned in our schools. Please see the attached overview. Much remains to be done to refine our action plan. We need your expertise and will offer many ways, formal and informal, to create open dialog among people who share our passion.

SCCMS partners view South Carolina's teachers as paramount to the success of mathematics and science education for our children. We work closely with the State Department of Education to support efforts designed to improve instruction and increase student achievement.
