NASSMC
The National Alliance of State Science and Mathematics Coalitions (NASSMC) is an umbrella organization for state coalitions of business, education and public policy leaders united for the improvement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education for all students. NASSMC is a network of state coalitions and serves as the national advocate for the member organizations. A nonprofit association, NASSMC works state by state in pursuit of its vision that all US students will have the necessary knowledge of, understanding of, and skills in mathematics, science and technology, so they can be productive in their personal, work, and civic lives; and the nation will have a competent and competitive workforce that continues to meet the challenges of the global economy. NASSMC's member coalitions work to bring coherence and added value to the separate efforts of many individuals and organizations. Coalitions pursue goals not achievable by any one organization or sector working alone. The Alliance has awarded a NASSMC State Summits Implementation Program grant to the South Carolina Coalition for Mathematics and Science under a program funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASSMC provides additional monetary support through a separate grant from the U.S. Department of Education and supplies technical support and assistance to help the coalition achieve short- and long-term goals.

SC Department of Education – Mathematics & Science Unit
Each school day in South Carolina, more than 50,000 teachers instruct, enlighten, and challenge 670,000 students in over 1,150 public schools. The success of these professional educators is measured by the degree to which each student achieves the knowledge and skills that will enable him or her to become a productive adult. In turn, the success of an individual student-a future citizen of the Palmetto State-directly impacts the state's economy so it is critical that each one possesses a robust knowledge of mathematics, science, and technology. The Mathematics and Science Unit at the South Carolina Department of Education offers high-quality, research-based professional development and knowledge in mathematics and science to assist these professional educators as they work to ensure that all children have a solid foundation in these key subjects.
