An Introduction to SC-INBRE
The Clemson University Bioengineering Department invites you to be participant in the SC-INBRE (South Carolina IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence) Summer Workshop Series. As an undergraduate from one of the more than 25 participating institutions, you will have the opportunity to actively engage in hands-on lectures and workshops that have been specifically tailored by the Faculty and Staff of Clemson University to introduce you to the field of Bioengineering and give you the knowledge and laboratory skills that are in demand in today’s vibrant and growing biomedical industry. This NIH funded Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Program aims to attract energetic and enthusiastic young researchers to take part in its strategic goal of strengthening biomedical and behavioral research within the 4-year institutions of South Carolina.

Clemson University’s Bioengineering program is
one of the oldest in the world, beginning in 1963,
and widely recognized as having pioneered the
field of Biomaterials. At Clemson University, the
Department of Bioengineering has research emphases
in biomaterials, biomechanics, tissue engineering and
cellular mechano-biology. The SC-INBRE workshops
at Clemson University welcome you to be a part of a
unique hands-on learning experience. Six specially
tailored two-day interactive workshops will expose
you to a wealth of research-oriented instruction with
an emphasis on biomaterials.
