Received an Outstanding Student Chapter Counselor Award from AIChE in 1985.

Participant in U.S. Air Force Summer Faculty Program, June-August 1982, Tyndall AFB, Florida. Did research on combustion and soot characterization.

The AIChE Student Chapter won a National Award of Excellence (Top 10%) during seven of the eight years with R. W. Rice as faculty advisor. Only one other school in the U.S. had a better record.
