THREE CLEMSON STUDENTS NAMED GOLDWATER SCHOLARS FOR 2009 and ONE CLEMSON STUDENT NAMED HONORABLE MENTIONJames Hodges, a junior from Sumter studying for a double degree in chemistry and polymer and fiber chemistry; Michael Juang, a junior from Clemson, studying electrical engineering; and Jennifer Moffit, a sophomore from Spartanburg, studying chemical and biomolecular engineering have all been awarded the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Kemper Talley, a sophomore from Easley, majoring in in physics was also named as Honorable Mention. The Goldwater Foundation is a federally endowed agency established by Public Law 99-661 on November 14, 1986. The Scholarship Program honoring Senator Barry M. Goldwater was designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in the fileds of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. The Goldwater Scholarship is the premier undergraduate award of its type in these fields.
