The 48th International Brick Plant Operator's Forum, called the "Clemson Brick Meeting," had a record attendance of 724 - 12 more than last year's 712. The Forum has been a meeting dominated by brick manufacturing topics throughout its history. The presentations at the meeting are primarily by brick manufacturing personnel offering information on new innovations and advice on process changes. The goal of the Forum is for each attendee to take new information back to their plant so that they can improve quality and efficiency.

The theme of this year's meeting was "Production and Use of Clay Paving Brick." Keynote speakers included Richard Manning, Hanson Brick & Tile - America; John Peile, Claypave Pty - Australia; and Alan Baxter, Baggeridge Brick - United Kingdom. Fletcher Steele of Pine Hall Brick presented 25 Years of Change - Yet Some Things Never Do.
The Forum remains as one of the largest events in the Clemson area not associated with either the academic or athletic programs of Clemson University. It is also one of the most visible public service activities of The National Brick Research Center.
