ECE grad
students receive fellowships
Two Clemson
graduate students have received fellowships from MIT's Lincoln Laboratory.
Jason Skinner (on right in photo) and Tommy Royster
are pursuing advanced study in the Holcombe department of electrical
and computer engineering. Skinner is a doctoral student, and Royster
is beginning work on his master's. The fellowship program supports
graduate students in science and engineering.
While the award parameters provide consideration for a number of
disciplines, Clemson was selected as one of the five university
recipients because of its reputation in the field of digital communications.
Consequently, the fellowships for Clemson are for students in electrical
and computer engineering who are specializing in wireless communication
systems, wireless networks, or satellite communication systems.

The five schools
selected to participate in the program are: Clemson, Rice University,
University of Colorado, University of Washington, and Washington
University. It is interesting to note that two of the five are private
universities, and Clemson is the only selected institution east
of the Mississippi.
