| CLEMSON UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION HONORS RETIRED EXECUTIVE AS TOP VOLUNTEER |

|
A retired corporate executive is the Clemson University Foundation's 1999-2000 "Volunteer of the Year." David S. Rozendale, who retired from the Rust Engineering Company and Rust International Corporation in 1996, was honored for his efforts on behalf of the university's College of Engineering and Science. Rozendale is a founding member and former chairman of the college's advisory board and is the current chairman of a drive to raise at least $76 million for engineering and science programs as part of a larger, university-wide capital campaign. "David works tirelessly for Clemson," said Neill Cameron, the university's vice president for advancement. "He provides volunteer consulting services and is very generous with his own time and money. He is an effective advocate because he speaks from firsthand experience, as both a corporate executive and a Clemson alumnus, about the economic, technological and societal benefits that result from private support for Clemson University. His dedication and service to Clemson are an inspiration to staff and volunteers alike." The Clemson University Foundation raises, manages and invests private gifts for Clemson programs and activities. Rozendale, a member of the foundation's board of directors, is a native of Andrews, N.C., who earned a civil engineering degree from Clemson in 1957. He joined Rust, an engineering and construction company based in Birmingham, Ala., in 1962 as a design engineer and rose through the ranks to become president and chief executive officer in 1981. He retired in 1996. |
