Awards and Recognition This year's Kenelly-Voss Award went to Jacob Monroe Hicks, mathematical sciences. The University-wide award is given to the freshman who enters Clemson University with the most advanced placement credits.
Russell Patrick Watson, chemistry, was honored with the Outstanding Senior Award the Sciences, which is based on scholarship and character.
Kristin Louise Kelley, industrial engineering, was the recipient of the Robert W. Moorman Award. Robert W. Moorman was the son of Commandant Thomas Moorman, a graduate in civil engineering and head of the engineering mechanics department from 1958-1974. The Robert W. Moorman Award honors the most outstanding junior in engineering on the basis of scholarship and character.
The Outstanding Junior Award in the Sciences is given on the basis of scholarship and character. This year's honoree is Olin Thompson Mefford, IV, textile and polymer chemistry.
Sunil Bector,
biosystems engineering, was awarded the J. Wesley Davis Leadership Award.
The award is given in memory of Dr. J. Wesley Davis, a graduate of Clemson
University in electrical engineering and a former president of the Clemson
University Engineering Foundation. This award is given to a senior engineering
student for outstanding scholarship, leadership in a student engineering
organization, and high potential for success in the engineering profession.
The Outstanding Graduate Researcher Award is given to two graduate researchers who have been recognized by faculty in conducting exemplary research during the 2001-2002 school year. Chosen this year were Ian Alexander Gravagne, electrical engineering, and Sonia Hammache, chemical engineering.
The Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award is given to two graduate teaching assistants who have been recognized by faculty, students, and fellow graduate teaching assistants for their skills in undergraduate teaching. Chosen this year were Nicole Hope Levi, physics and astronomy, and Japheth James Light, electrical engineering. |
