Goldwater recipients

Two engineering and science students are the latest recipients of the Goldwater Scholarship for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering. Erin Ferguson (on the right in the photo) a chemistry major, and Chris Welch, (on the left in the photo), a double major in chemistry and biological sciences have been named recipients of the premier undergraduate award of its type in these fields.

Congress established the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program in 1986, to honor Senator Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman, including 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate.
