Goldwater Recipient
Congratulations to Rebecca
(Becky) Jelen, an honors
student in chemical
engineering from Columbia, S.C. Becky has been named a recipient
of the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, the premier undergraduate
award in the fields of science, math, and engineering. This extramural
award is given on the basis of academic merit to outstanding
students who intend to pursue Ph.D. degrees and careers in science,
math and engineering. Out of 1,200 applicants this year, 304
Goldwater Scholars were chosen.
