CoES hosts accreditation review team

This fall the College of Engineering and Science hosted a visit by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). All B.S. engineering programs and the B.S. in computer science are accredited by ABET. The B.S. in chemistry is certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
John Enderle, professor and director of the biomedical engineering program at the University of Connecticut-Storrs, was the engineering accreditation commission chair. He supervised the team reviewing the College’s 8 accredited engineering programs.
Della Bonnette, vice president of information technology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette was the chair for the computing accreditation commission.
While the final evaluation will not be finalized until July, the preliminary report at the exit interview was very complimentary about the quality of all programs reviewed.

ABET evaluation chairs, Della Bonnette (second from left), and John Enderle (center), confer with (from left to right), Larry Dooley, associate dean for research and graduate studies; Tom Keinath, dean of the college; and Steve Melsheimer, associate dean for undergraduate studies.
