Hattie B. Wagener Award, which is given annually to the top
administrative staff member. This year’s winner was
Maria Barrett, who served most of this year as the student
services coordinator for the Holcombe Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering. She has recently moved into a full-time
accounting position for the department and will handle their
state, grant and foundation accounts.
Winners of the achievement awards included Debra Helvie,
an administrative assistant for physics and astronomy; Kathryn
Poole, an administrative specialist for mechanical engineering;
and Wendy Howard, an administrative assistant for electrical
and computer engineering.
Innovation awards went to Stacey Wigington, student services
coordinator for physics and astronomy; Rachel Collins, recruiting
and retention coordinator for general engineering; and Gale
Black, an administrative assistant in electrical and computer
engineering.
Merit award winners were Linda Jenkins, a lab technologist
in bioengineering; Lori Rholetter, an administrative specialist
in physics and astronomy; and Susan Smith, an administrative
assistant in chemistry.
“We’d be lost without our classified staff,” said
Thomas Keinath, dean of the College of Engineering and Science. “Their
contributions are critical, and they’re much appreciated.”
