College Faculty Awards
Each
spring, the College of Engineering and Science honors outstanding
faculty with several awards that recognize excellence in teaching
and research.
Honors and Awards

 The
Murray Stokely Award is given to a faculty member in engineering
for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate
level with emphasis on the most recent three years. This year’s
award was presented to Stephen Hubbard, electrical and computer
engineering. |

 David
Moyle, a lecturer in physics and astronomy, was honored with
the Award of Excellence for Teaching in the Sciences. The
award is given to a faculty member in sciences or textiles
to recognize excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and/or
graduate level with emphasis on the most recent three years. |

 This
year, the Byar’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching went
to E. Randy Collins, associate professor in electrical and
computer engineering. This award recognizes outstanding instruction
in engineering fundamentals. |

 Wilson
Pearson, professor of electrical and computer engineering
was awarded the McQueen Quattlebaum Faculty Achievement Award
by the College of Engineering and Science. The award was established
by Alex M. Quattlebaum, a university trustee in the 1960s
and 1970s, in honor of his father, McQueen Quattlebaum, a
member of Clemson’s class of 1909. It recognizes faculty
accomplishments in the preceding year and distinctions and
awards in the past three years. Any full-time tenured or tenure-track
faculty member in engineering with the rank of assistant professor
or above is eligible for nomination.

 Luis
Echegoyen, department chair and professor of chemistry, received
this year’s Award for Faculty Achievement in the Sciences.
This award recognizes the science faculty member who demonstrated
the highest level of research achievement during 2003. |
