Dorota A. Abramovitch (PHD CHEM ‘80) has been promoted to full professor of chemistry at Anderson College. This appointment follows Abramovitch being named “Teacher of the Year” last fall. At that time she was honored at a governor’s reception in Columbia.

 

K2 Inc., has appointed J. Wayne Merck (BS ME ’82; MBA ‘93) to the position of President . He will also retain his previous role as Chief Operating Officer with overall responsibility for the operations of K2’s various divisions.

“Wayne has over 12 years in various management roles at K2, and has a proven track record as a skilled operator who is bringing strong leadership to all of our divisions,” stated Richard J. Heckmann, K2 chairman and chief executive officer. “As we pursue our stated objectives to aggressively grow K2 both organically and through acquisitions, Wayne will play a key role in ensuring a consistent level of high quality operations both for existing K2 businesses as well as for acquisitions.”

Merck earned both a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration at Clemson. Originally from Central, he’s been with K2 since 1991.
