CoES Advisory Board member receives honorary degree

Sen. Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree during the winter graduation at Clemson University.

“Sen. Leatherman has been a great friend to Clemson, supporting the university on many fronts, including serving for several years on the President’s Advisory Board and the College of Engineering and Science Advisory Board. His counsel has been vital to the success of the university,” said Clemson President James F. Barker. “Clemson University holds Sen. Leatherman’s achievements and service to the people of South Carolina in the highest regard.”

Leatherman is chairman of the Senate finance committee and has been on the College of Engineering and Science Advisory Board at Clemson for 15 years. He supports efforts to enable South Carolina’s three research universities to have more access to funding and more freedom to partner with private companies.
