Lasser honored with MLK Award

Sue Lasser, director of the Programs for Educational Enrichment and Retention (PEER) recently received a Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Excellence in Service. The award, presented during Clemson’s MLK Commemorative March and Service, recognizes outstanding commitment to diversity and community service. Over the years, Lasser has led the way in developing award-winning services for African-American and Hispanic-American students in the College of Engineering and Science. She has organized countless programs to retain minorities in engineering and sciences, including summer math camps, and year-round study halls. In 1996, Lasser was among the first winners of the national Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.
