Lasser honored with
MLK Award
Sue
Lasser, director of the Programs for Educational Enrichment and
Retention (PEER) recently received a Martin Luther King Jr. Award
for Excellence in Service. The award, presented during Clemson’s
MLK Commemorative March and Service, recognizes outstanding commitment
to diversity and community service. Over the years, Lasser has led
the way in developing award-winning services for African-American
and Hispanic-American students in the College of Engineering and
Science. She has organized countless programs to retain minorities
in engineering and sciences, including summer math camps, and year-round
study halls. In 1996, Lasser was among the first winners of the
national Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics
and Engineering Mentoring.
