These
professors were nominated and elected by The College of Fellows for
outstanding achievements in medical and biological engineering. The
Clemson researchers were three of 98 new members inducted in a formal
ceremony in Washington, D.C.
AIMBE Fellows have helped to revolutionize medicine, engineering and
related fields that enhance and extend the lives of people all over
the world. Counting several Nobel Prize winners among them, their
work also helps protect the environment, leads to new national security
safeguards and contributes to a better society in many other ways.
One of LaBerge’s current research projects investigates the
wear performance of total knee joint replacements and total knee joint
design. Burg’s investigations focus on tissue engineering and
absorbable surgical materials. Guiseppi-Elie researches engineered
biosystems to aid human health.
