PEER Advisor
Peer Advisors (PAs) are upperclass engineering and science students who live in the residence halls and serve as facilitators to help students with the transition from high school to college. There are 6 PAs in the program, with one PA living on each floor of Sanders and Young. PAs answer students' questions about academic and personal issues, assist students in discovering academic resources and refer students to other individuals or offices on campus when appropriate.
As a Peer Advisor (PA), you are required to:
- Live in the residence hall
- Attend a weekly staff meeting
- Attend Orientation Training a week before classes start in August
- Hold 8 office hours per week on your hall. This includes visiting with students on the hall to: provide them with someone to talk to, provide them with a source of information about the departments in the College, help them overcome feelings of isolation, provide encouragement, and see if they need any assistance.
- Assist in the planning of and attend all Learning Community social events and programs.
- Assist in the assessment of the program.
As a PA, you get:
- Your own dorm room (no roommate) at the double occupancy rate.
- $6.25 per hour for approximately 10 hours per week.
RESIDENCE HALL TUTOR
Residence Hall Tutors provide tutoring services throughout the week in the residence halls.
As a Residence Hall Tutor, you are required to:
1.
Work in the evenings in Sanders or Young Halls. Hours of operation
are
Monday- Thursday, 6-10 pm (your hours can be flexible).
2. Attend Orientation Training before classes begin in August.
3. Assist in the assessment of the program.
As a Residence Hall Tutor, you get:
1. $6.25 per hour
