This image shows a variable capacitor of about 700 picofarads next to one of the pedal generator boards. On the generator board in the space where the upper four notes are not implemented is a 2 microfarad capacitor (the bright yellow cylinder). This is over 2 million times the capacitance of the variable capacitor. A variable capacitor with 2 microfarads maximum would be the size of a small building and weigh a few tons! Not practical considering the Park organ would need about 5000 of them, ranging from about 1000 picofarads to about 2 microfarads.
