Problem 4-23

Only part a was assigned.

Determine the node voltages V1, V2, and V3. Note that these voltages are already specified on the diagram. I have added the voltages at the nodes themselves in the manner presented in class, so that each node voltage is actually labeled twice on the diagram.

V5 and V20 were added to assist in finding the currents into node 3.

Define io (used to define the dependent sources) in terms of node voltages.

io = (V2 - V3) / 50

There are no supernodes in this problem.

I will sum the currents into the nodes.

NODE 1:

(Eq. 1)

NODE 2:

(Eq.  2)

NODE 3:

First, we need to find V5 and V20 in order to get the two corresponding currents into node 3.

For V5

For V20

Now KCL at node 3

(Eq. 3)

Solving Equations 1, 2, and 3 yields:

V1 = - 53.5 V

V2 = - 32.1 V

V3 = 2.67 V
