Special Problem: Double Supernode



Nodes A and B forms a supernode with the reference node due to the 12 V source and the 25 V source (shown with a dotted outline):

VA = 12

VA - VB = 25

12 - VB = 25

VB = - 13

KCL at node C:

Simplify and collect terms

12 VA - 12 VC + 6 VB - 6 VC + 3 VD - 3 VC - 4 VC = 0

12 (12) + 6 (-13) - 25 VC + 3 VD = 0

- 25 VC + 3 VD = - 66 (Eq. 1)

 

KCL at node D:

Simplify and collect terms (LCD = 60)

12 (-13) - 12 VD + 15 VC - 15 VD - 10 VD = 0

15 VC - 37 VD = 156 (Eq. 2)

Solving Equations 1, and 2 yields:

VA = 12 V

VB = -13 V

VC = 2.24 V

VD = - 3.31 V
