Qingfeng Tan

Qingeng's research involved developing and applying a model of a propagating hydraulic fracture. The title of his thesis is: Two-dimensional hydraulic fracture simulations using Franc2D. The model Qingfeng developed is based on Franc2D, a well-known code developed to predict propagating fractures. Qingfeng modified Franc2D to include the effects of fluid flow during propagation, and to include a propagation criterion. He produced a modified version of Franc2D with those capabilities.

Qingfeng's thesis is available, along with his powerpoint defense talk.

The modifications to Franc2D that Qingfeng developed are also available for anyone to use. However, you should check with Tony Ingraffea with Cornell Fracture Groupto get permission to use Franc2D.
