When and Where

This half day course will be held on the day of the Symposium from 1:00 - 5:00 (during the afternoon sessons) at the Madren Center. We would like attendees to make a commitment to attending the entire course. Please email Scott (brames@clemson.edu) if you plan to attend. Space is currently limited to 40 participants.

Ethics Course Description

The class will start with a short summary about the general history of Professional Codes of Conduct (15 minutes), then cover the Rules of Professional Conduct for NC/SC geologists and engineers (15 minutes), and then move on to 3.5 hours of case study discussions.

The course will focus on the Rules of Professional Conduct for North Carolina Registered Engineers and South Carolina Registered Geologists. All Registered Geologists and Engineers are charged with knowing the Rules of Professional Conduct, and thoroughly understanding the Rules of Professional Conduct can help the Geologist and Engineer perform their work in a professional manner and better protect the public. Course topics include a review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Geologists and Engineers and discussion of case studies. Course attendees are expected to contribute to discussions of case studies and bring their own cases for review. The North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors has approved this course for Professional Development Hours and the South Carolina State Board of Registration for Geologists for Continuing Education Credits.
