Savannah River Nuclear Solutions
The Area Closure Project at the Savannah River Site, Aiken South Carolina currently has positions open for immediate to near term hire. The entry level positions are for recent (within the last five years) graduates in geology, hydrogeology, or a closely related field such as environmental engineering or science with emphasis in geology. MS degree or outstanding BS degree candidates are preferred. The preferred candidates shall have a working knowledge of geographic information systems (ArcGIS 9), be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with groundwater modeling is a plus. U.S. citizenship is required; the candidates must also be capable of obtaining security clearance to perform assigned duties. The work involves field oriented tasks typical of waste site characterization (soil and groundwater sampling, drilling, well installation, direct push technology, etc). Responsibilities also include report preparation (e.g., RCRA/CERCLA documents such as RFI/RI Work Plans, Sample & Analysis Plans, Remedial Investigation reports, Corrective Action reports, RCRA Part B Permit updates, Field Characterization reports). Substantial interface with clients and regulators will also be required.
The Area Closure Project at the Savannah River Site is a full service environmental program having numerous ongoing and future investigations and remedial actions for groundwater, vadose zone and surface waste units. Characterization, sampling, and regulatory reporting are associated with all of these efforts. This position is with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). SRNS is an equal opportunity employer.
