Math Excellence Workshop

Sponsored by the South Carolina Alliance for Minority Participation (SCAMP), Duke Energy, and the College of Engineering and Science, the Math Excellence Workshop (MEW) has received national recognition for promoting superior mathematical understanding.

The program is open to all incoming Clemson University minority students majoring in computer science, engineering, the life sciences, the physical sciences or mathematics. MEW pays all expenses for committed students to take either the calculus or pre-calculus class in the second session of summer school at Clemson.

MEW is an intense experience, and the students who choose to take the MEW challenge average much higher grades than other students in their math classes. Even better, they find they're prepared with the knowledge and study skills they need to master the technical classes ahead in their majors.

What Does It Cost?

MEW pays all expenses for the classes and housing for these committed students.

How Do I Apply?

After you are admitted to Clemson University in one of the disciplines mentioned above, you will automatically be sent an invitation to apply to MEW. Should you fail to receive an invitation by the April 30 preceding your freshman year at Clemson, please
contact Sue Lasser.

The PEER Office is a support service for minority students provided by the College of Engineering and Science.
