What's
Clemson Sneak Preview?
WHAT'S
THE CLEMSON SNEAK PREVIEW FOR?
We want you to see what it's really like to be an
engineering or science major at Clemson; to give you a chance to
talk to minority engineering or science freshmen; to go to some
classes, stay in a dorm, eat in the cafeteria and meet some of the
current students.
What Will
I Be Doing?
Thursday evening - You'll come to campus to attend
an evening reception. There you and your parents will meet other
high school seniors, your Clemson hosts, and the PEER office staff.
After the reception, you'll go back to your host's room to talk
and (eventually!) to sleep. Bring a sleeping bag; you'll probably
have to camp out on the floor.
Friday - You'll do just what your host does -- go
to his or her classes, eat meals in the cafeteria, meet your host's
friends, and use the recreational facilities if you wish. You'll
experience a typical day as a college student. In the late afternoon
we'll have a campus tour and an information session featuring speakers
from admissions, financial aid, and some student groups. You'll
rejoin your host for dinner, then be invited to a college activity.
Afterwards you'll retire to your host's room to sleep.
Saturday - You'll get up when you want and go to the
cafeteria for brunch. Your parents will be welcome to pick you up
any time that morning. (Preferably before noon -- your host needs
time to study!)
What Do I Bring?
Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, washcloth, umbrella,
casual clothes (jeans and t-shirts are fine), and whatever else
you'd bring for an overnight visit (cosmetics, shampoo, toothpaste,
etc.).
Do I Have To Pay Anything?
No!!! Clemson Sneak Preview is absolutely FREE!
How Do I Sign Up?
Your high school guidance counselor receives
an invitation to nominate juniors each spring and seniors each fall.
He/She will distribute applications to all minority students in
your high school who have a GPA of 3.0 or better and an interest
in science and engineering. You will be contacted by mail or phone
if you are selected as a sneak preview candidate.
Please note: If you are qualified, but your high school doesn't
regularly send students to Sneak Preview, please e-mail the director,
Sue Lasser, and
she will make sure you are informed of the next Sneak Preview event.
