Coarse Aggregate (CA) Level 1:
Sampling and Grading Technician's
Certification
Course
Description:
The Coarse Aggregate (CA) Level 1: Sampling
and Grading Course is intended to assure competency in issues
affecting QC/QA for aggregate suppliers. This course serves
as the primary certification required of all aggregate QC
technicians and focuses on field sampling, sample reduction,
and grading. During this course, technicians must be certified
for proficiency in Sampling of Aggregates (AASHTO T 2),
Reducing Samples of Aggregate to Testing Size (AASHTO T
248), and Sieve Analysis of Fine and Coarse Aggregates (AASHTO
T 27).
Upon registration for the course, each participant
will be sent a course manual and a blank experience form.
Prior to coming to take the written exam, course participants
must train for 6 months under a certified CA Level 2 technician.
The participant must then demonstrate proficiency in performing
the required procedures (AASHTO T2, AASHTO T 248, and AASHTO
T 27) to a certified CA Level 2 technician from a different
employer than themselves. This CA Level 2 technician will
sign the participant's experience form once the participant
has aptly demonstrated the required procedures to them.
Experience forms must be submitted 14 days prior to the
course date. After the participant has submitted the signed
experience form, they must also pass a written exam before
certification will be awarded. Certified technicians must
be recertified every 5 years. |

Comfort Inn in Clemson.

for SCDOT Technician Certification".
If you answer "yes" to Question #2 on this
form, your certification will be subject to approval
by the SCDOT Technician Certification Board even if
you pass the written exam. |
