Earthwork Certification

Earthwork and Nuclear Gauge Technician School

The participants must successfully pass a written exam (60% of the grade). In addition, there is a field test for this course (40% of the grade). A Passing Grade is 80%. You need a grade of at least 80 in each part of the test (field or written) to pass the class. If you or someone in your firm is interested in participating in any of these courses, register as soon as possible. Please let Mrs. Myrtle Mraovich know (864-656-4183 or fax: 864-656-0124) if you need further information regarding this matter.

Participants attending Earthwork Technician School will be certified at using nuclear gauge. A representative from Troxler will conduct this portion of the course. NO EXCEPTIONS: Regardless of your current certification status. Participants attending these courses are highly recommended to have at least six months of work experience in the type of work for which they are seeking certification. Participants working for DOT MUST have the math certification before attending any of the classes. Please contact Mr. Aly Hussin (803-737-6687) for more information.

Cost:
The cost of this class will be $700.00 per person. This will cover four lunches, SC DOT forms, testing procedures, and manuals.
Prerequisites:
Signed experience form (Earthwork/Base Technician Certification Experience Form and Math Certification)
Number of Participants:
Each class will have a maximum of twenty (20) students.
Attendance:
A candidate's absence from any class session may disqualify that person from being eligible to take the Final Exam.
Lodging:
A block of rooms is being held at the Comfort Inn for this course. To ensure your group-rate registration, be sure to specify "Earthwork Course" and the "date" of your arrival when you register. The telephone number for the Comfort is 864-653-3600. The cost is $70.00 (single or double) plus tax. South Carolina state employees are tax exempt. There is a complimentary continental breakfast included in this cost.

Seating is limited to 20 people, so please register promptly. If you are not registered and show up for the class: You will be asked to leave!
Course Location:
Earthworks classes will be held at the ARTS facility.
Course Begins:
Earthworks classes begin at 8:00 a.m. each day
Reminder:
Participants are required to bring a hand held calculator.
Directions to ARTS Facility:
From the Comfort Inn parking lot, turn right onto Highway 123, cross over the lake, turn left onto Highway 93, turn right onto Seneca Creek Road, turn right onto McGregor, turn right onto Hugo Drive, ARTS is the last building on the right.
       ATTENTION ATTENDEES!!
At the start of each course, all course attendees will be
asked to read and sign the following form called
"Application for SCDOT Technician Certification"
If you answer "yes" to Question #2 on this form, your certification will be subject to approval by the SCDOT Technician Certification Board even if you pass the written exam.
