What classes do campers take?

Project WISE classes give girls experience and hands-on learning in biology; mathematics; and civil, industrial, chemical and computer engineering. You’ll learn how science and engineering affect you personally. You’ll also discover how exciting and rewarding careers in these fields can be.

In last year’s biology class, Project WISE girls explored how engineering and science are used in heart transplants when they performed bypass surgery on a bovine heart. In their chemical engineering class, the girls learned how chemicals are made, including their favorite cosmetics. They even had the opportunity to make their favorite shade of lip gloss.

In civil engineering, Project WISE girls worked in teams as they competed to see who could make the strongest bridge or the most accurate clock using the simplest household items. They planned and worked through all the logistics for the perfect prom in their industrial engineering class. And in computer science, they designed Web pages as well as taking apart and reassembling a computer.
