Erin McNelis' Homepage

Well, here's my first attempt at my own web page. It will probably be kind of low-tech and sparse for a while, but hopefully one day I'll have some better research links to add in. It's something to play with in all of that spare time.

I have been the one to inherit the LaTeX clthesis class from Bernd Schandl upon his graduation from Clemson University (congratulations Dr. Schandl), so you can find the links to hopefully all of the LaTeX information you'll need right here. If not, feel free to email me and I'll see what I can do to help.

Some LaTeX Documentations Some interesting (?) links to several online and printable LaTeX documentations including some documentation for frequently used packages.

Clemson Thesis/Dissertation LaTeX2e Class File This is Bernd's modified version of the dissertation class file, with a bit more structure and comments than the previous version. It's meant to be easier for everyone to understand and use.

Add menus to the BibTeX mode of (X)Emacs Another added feature that makes editing LaTeX files easier using BibTeX. If you use XEmacs, it may be something worth looking into. I haven't tried it out yet, but Mike McGonagle finds it very helpful.

You can also tinker around with some Java Applets I have of Circadian Rhythms models that are related to my dissertation research. I'm studying the effect of shift work on a person's circadian rhythms, and trying to identify the best way to schedule a person's work that least interferes with their body's natural rhythms.

These models were originally created using Stella while at a SCSI (Shodor Computational Science Institute) workshop over the last couple of summers. Those Stella models were then turned into Java Applets with SCSI's help.

Work Related Rhythms Model comparing the rhythms of a shift worker and those of the typical non-working person (the benchmark).
A Different Benchmark Version (without Work Factored in)

On a lighter note, take a look at some of the pictures my brother, Sean, has sent back from his overseas travels. Sean is a Lieutenant in the Navy, currently stationed on a base in Sigonella, Italy with the Seabees. Some of Sean's Pictures

I've also added some additional pictures of my family members. Feel free to take a look.
