RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Grujicic's research interests are very broad. He was educated as a metallurgist/materials scientist and, hence, has interests into processing-microstructure-property-performance relations of structural metallic and intermetallic materials such as alpha2+gamma titanium aluminides, nitrogen strengthened austenitic stainless steels, Al2O3 reinforced functionally graded aluminum alloys, etc.
Since 1988, Dr. Grujicic has been a professor of Mechanical Engineering and hence his research interests have expanded into the areas of computational mechanics and thermal fluid sciences as related to materials and manufacturing processes.
Since 1996, Dr. Grujicics research interests have included the areas of multi-length scale modeling of both processing-properties-performance and microstructure-property-performance relations in nano- and micro-size materials systems and devices. The multi-length scale approach encompasses computational techniques ranging from the Density Functional Theory quantum mechanical method, via atomistic/molecular modeling schemes, through meso-scale approaches to quasi-continuum and continuum approximations.
